Details Press Release.

December 1, 1999 – Barcelona, Spain. Elefant Records is proud to announce the release of Radio, the bold debut album from the groundbreaking electronic duo Radio, featuring Silvania’s Mario “Sil” and Cocó alongside techno auteur Prozack (Carlos Ordóñez). Since their formation in mid-1999, Radio has united two complementary visions: Silvania’s penchant for intricate, multi-layered frequency tapestries drawn from 4AD-style samples, and Prozack’s signature minimalist rigor, built on crystalline percussion and obsessive repetition. Radio collects ten originals recorded at Estudios Caballo Grande during summer 1999, weaving house’s warmth and techno’s austerity into a seamless, aqueous continuum. Highlights include “Ecos de Neón,” whose drifting motifs collide with dry, driving kicks, and “Luz Estática,” a haunting meditation on frequency and human perception. Critics have hailed Radio as “the revitalization of a language once stale” (Ruta 66) and “a masterclass in understated innovation” (MondoSonoro). Available now on CD (ED-032) and digital platforms, Radio will be celebrated with a release showcase at Razzmatazz on December 15, featuring a live audiovisual performance that syncs their flowing rhythms with bespoke generative visuals. Early ticket purchasers will receive a bonus 7″ of the unreleased club cut “Frecuencia Alfa.” Join Radio as they redefine electronic minimalism and illuminate new pathways for the dance floor.

Achievements and awards

Radio is the collaborative project of SIlvania (Mario “Sil” and Cocó), veterans of intricate, sample-rich electronica, and Prozack (Carlos Ordóñez), Spain’s foremost purist techno craftsman. Their alliance began in early 1999, driven by a shared ambition to transcend conventional dance music through austerity and complexity. Individually, Silvania employed layered short-wave frequencies and 4AD samples to sculpt labyrinthine textures, while Prozack constructed skeletal, razor-sharp rhythms grounded in obsessive minimalism. Together as Radio, they channeled these approaches into a singular, aqueous sonic universe where techno and house coalesce in constant, living flux. Their self-titled debut CD (1999) rapidly garnered acclaim in underground circles for its adventurous reinterpretations—each track a deft distillation of obscure influences, reimagined under a fresh prism. Standout cuts such as “Ondas Mutantes” and “Pulso Vital” became instant fixtures in Barcelona’s Subterráneo Club, and their live set at Sónar ’99 earned a standing ovation for its hypnotic interplay of pulsating kick drums and shimmering spectral layers. Their follow-up LP El Aire Está Vivo (2000) expanded the vision with exclusive new compositions and remixes, deepening the duo’s exploration of minimalism’s emotional range. Through relentless innovation and singular synergy, Radio has reanimated the language of techno, inspiring a new generation of Spanish electronic artists to seek the novel within the familiar.

Artist Bio.

Radio is the collaborative electronic music project of underground innovators Silvania—Mario “Sil” (short-wave sampling, synthesis) and Cocó (arrangement, textural design)—together with Galician techno producer Prozack (Carlos Ordóñez), who champions stripped-down, percussion-driven minimalism. Formed in mid-1999 under Elefant Records’ Stereophonic Dance imprint, Radio synthesizes house and techno into a living, liquid soundscape marked by hypnotic repetition, geometric sample collages and crystalline beats. Their self-titled debut CD Radio (1999) features ten tracks exploring the interplay of frequency and form, from the pulsing “Ecos de Neón” to the meditative “Luz Estática.” In 2000 they expanded the project with El Aire Está Vivo (double-LP ED-031), collecting CD tracks alongside exclusive remixes and new compositions like “Pulso Lunar” and “Onda Primaria.” Radio’s live performances—highlighted by appearances at Sónar ’99 and Subterráneo Club residencies—blend visceral dancefloor energy with immersive audiovisual elements. Critics praise Radio for “reclaiming techno’s soul” (Rockdelux) and “charting fresh territory in minimal electronic music” (Disco Grande). With a rigorous DIY ethic and a commitment to the novel, Radio continues to inspire Spain’s next wave of forward-thinking electronic artists.
