This is an extremely sweet and yet very lively piano and string piece, which not only convinces with both Italian and English lyrics, but also with a beautiful duet of female and male voices. 'Vicino ma lontano' clearly positions itself stylistically in the classical genre, although I was also able to detect subtle influences from more modern pop ballads. This is a very interesting track. This violin, so melancholic and lonely, seems to tell a story and together with the piano conveys strong emotions. There seems to be a polite and loving dialogue between the two instruments. The harmonies are interesting as they are never predictable! The piano, in its cadences, has a very complex gesture both in writing and technique. The violin itself, if in the beginning it is limited to playing long, relaxed notes, in the second part is much more orientated towards more complex and fast cadences.
