Details Press Release.

March 15, 2011 – Vigo, Spain. the debut single by synth-pop duo Milknaut. Formed in 2008 by conservatory professors Iago Reigosa (bass, guitar and synthesizers) and Bruno Murmura (composition, arrangements, vocals and synths), Milknaut emerged from their previous project Murmura to champion a revival of eighties-inspired electronic minimalism. After capturing Elefant’s attention with a demo in late 2010, the pair were invited to join the New Adventures in Pop series. Their limited-edition white vinyl single “Gumboots Girl,” out March 25, features four impeccably crafted tracks that pay homage to electronic pioneers such as Kraftwerk, New Order, Telex and El Aviador Dro. The title track opens with buoyant guitar chords and sparkling arpeggiators before melting into delicate vocoder accents that recall Lali Puna’s shimmering pop. Side B delivers “Underground Gardener,” driven by commanding winds and rising vocoder refrains; “Stay in My World,” a lush, shoegaze-tinged pop reverie evoking Neil Tennant filtered through dream-pop atmospheres; and “Siebenland,” a martial, German-language anthem that stomps a modern Autobahn classic. Available in Spain, Europe and North America via ElefantWeb and retailers. A release showcase will take place April 2 at Vigo’s Teatro García Barbón, followed by performances in Madrid and Barcelona.

Achievements and awards

Milknaut formed in Vigo in early 2008 when Iago Reigosa and Bruno Murmura, both conservatory music teachers, decided to revive their shared passion for retro-futurist synth-pop. Emerging from the ashes of their previous project Murmura, the duo embraced the ethereal arpeggios and vocoder-laden vocals that defined the golden era of electronic music. Drawing inspiration from pioneers such as Kraftwerk, New Order, DAF and Giorgio Moroder, they set out to fuse martial rhythms, neon melodies and dream-pop textures. After honing their craft in clubs and underground radio stations, Milknaut captured Elefant Records’ attention in 2010 and were invited to contribute to the New Adventures in Pop series. Their debut limited-edition single “Gumboots Girl,” pressed on white vinyl and released in early 2011, showcases four impeccably constructed tracks. The title song blends playful guitar flourishes with Lali Puna–style blips, while “Underground Gardener” layers propulsive winds and commanding vocoder hooks over an escalating synthetic groove. “Stay in My World” evokes Neil Tennant in a shoegaze haze, and the anthemic German-tinged “Siebenland” channels Kraftwerk’s cold precision into an irresistible dancefloor stomp. With striking visual aesthetics and a magnetic live persona, Milknaut has staked its claim as one of Spain’s most exciting contemporary synth-pop acts.

Artist Bio.

Milknaut is a Galician synth-pop duo from Vigo formed in 2008 by music school professors Iago Reigosa and Bruno Murmura. Reigosa contributes bass, guitar and shimmering synthesizer lines, while Murmura handles composition, arrangements, vocals and additional synth textures. Having previously performed under the name Murmura, the pair reimagined their sound to pay tribute to electronic luminaries such as Kraftwerk, New Order, Rheingold, DAF, Giorgio Moroder, Telex and OMD. Their elegant, retro-futurist approach blends crisp arpeggiators, vocoder-treated vocals and subtle guitar motifs with influences from bossa nova and dream-pop, yielding melodies both nostalgic and forward-looking. Milknaut’s first release, the limited white vinyl single “Gumboots Girl,” was unveiled as part of Elefant Records’ New Adventures in Pop series in March 2011. With standout tracks like the titular dancefloor anthem, the propulsive “Underground Gardener,” the shoegaze-tinged “Stay in My World” and the German-language electro march “Siebenland,” the single established their distinctive sonic signature. Celebrated for their striking visual presentation and high-energy live shows, Milknaut sold out their first showcase at Shibuya O-Nest and has performed notable events across Asia and Spain. They earned airplay on J-Wave radio nationwide. Emerging as leaders of contemporary synth-pop, they continue to explore vintage textures with futuristic flair.
