March 15, 2011 – Vigo, Spain. the debut single by synth-pop duo Milknaut. Formed in 2008 by conservatory professors Iago Reigosa (bass, guitar and synthesizers) and Bruno Murmura (composition, arrangements, vocals and synths), Milknaut emerged from their previous project Murmura to champion a revival of eighties-inspired electronic minimalism. After capturing Elefant’s attention with a demo in late 2010, the pair were invited to join the New Adventures in Pop series. Their limited-edition white vinyl single “Gumboots Girl,” out March 25, features four impeccably crafted tracks that pay homage to electronic pioneers such as Kraftwerk, New Order, Telex and El Aviador Dro. The title track opens with buoyant guitar chords and sparkling arpeggiators before melting into delicate vocoder accents that recall Lali Puna’s shimmering pop. Side B delivers “Underground Gardener,” driven by commanding winds and rising vocoder refrains; “Stay in My World,” a lush, shoegaze-tinged pop reverie evoking Neil Tennant filtered through dream-pop atmospheres; and “Siebenland,” a martial, German-language anthem that stomps a modern Autobahn classic. Available in Spain, Europe and North America via ElefantWeb and retailers. A release showcase will take place April 2 at Vigo’s Teatro García Barbón, followed by performances in Madrid and Barcelona.
