ADSR COLLECTIVE - VANCOUVER Taisen’s "This Is Time," from his 2021 album HOME, is a masterclass in combining classical depth with modern electronic textures. A classically trained pianist turned jazz improviser, Taisen crafts a meditative piece where poignant piano melodies are underscored by minimalist electronic beats. The composition’s subtle crescendos and thoughtful pauses reflect a cinematic sensibility, likely influenced by Taisen’s background in theater. Embracing the lyricism of chamber music and the pulsations of synthesizers, "This Is Time" creates a deeply emotive soundscape that resonates with themes of memory and fleeting moments. It’s a testament to Taisen’s ability to bridge the classical and contemporary with effortless grace.

Artist Bio.

Taisen was introduced to the piano by his father at the age of six, and then followed classical training at various conservatories. A self-taught musician at heart, he also took up other instruments such as the guitar, flute and violin. His passion for cinema and theater led him to train as an actor in Paris in 2007. Taisen has been improvising on the piano since he was a teenager, and trained in composition by combining his theoretical knowledge with his musical intuition. He naturally gravitated towards jazz, playing as a sideman in numerous groups, from duos to quintets. He formed his quartet in 2017, the decisive year in which he began playing his own music. Gradually, he will concentrate solely on developing his personal projects as a composer and performer. A lover of synthesizers and drum machines, he now combines the lyricism of classical music with the universe of electronic music.
