Today, trailblazing pop trio GUATAFÁN unveils their eagerly awaited second single in the New Adventures in Pop series: a limited-edition white vinyl 7″ featuring four brand-new tracks. Having transformed from a boy-girl duo into a vibrant girl group led by María López, with Laura and Cristina adding vocal firepower, GUATAFÁN fuse 60s-style harmonies with Japanese techno-pop energy and a dash of punk attitude. Opener “Examen Sorpresa” propels listeners with a thrilling interplay of programmed beats, live drumming and scorching guitar lines. Side A closes with “Chicas de Oro,” a dream-pop reverie dripping in arpeggiated synths and Casiotone nostalgia. On Side B, “La Vida Me Sonríe” channels Juniper Moon’s bittersweet charm through a prism of Cola Jet Set–inspired melodies and features a chorus guaranteed to ignite sing-alongs. The record concludes with “Un Día de Verano,” an electric celebration of youth that imagines Helen Love transplanted to Madrid’s underground scene. Co-produced by the band and Madrid’s ElectroSonido Studios, this 7″ is available June 10th via independent record stores and the New Adventures in Pop webstore. GUATAFÁN will celebrate with a launch show at Siroco on June 20th, followed by summer dates at Lemon Pop Murcia and ContemPOPranea Festival. Don’t miss the new wave of fearless, genre-defying pop.
