Surrounded By Capybaras is a music project formed by Chris Dilluvio. A long-time hobby guitarist, Chris decided to enter the world of DIY home recording in early 2023. Capybaras are known for their chill nature, and nothing could be more chill than being surrounded by a bunch of capybaras. This music is great to chill out to and hopefully creates similar vibes to hanging out with some capybaras. Chris’ first release was a four song EP entitled Drunk Basket. The EP was released in late 2023. Each track on this EP is straight ahead indie rock. Chris plays the guitar and bass guitar on all the tracks. He arranged the drums using a digital audio workstation plugin. There are no vocals, so it can be a challenge to keep things interesting with a lack of lyrics. Each song involves multiple changes to keep the listener interested and wanting more. There are several bite size chunks within in each song that could easily be pulled out for sync opportunities. The writing style of Surrounded by Capybaras is leaning towards a blend of classic Grunge and Shoegaze. Chris is currently working on a 10-song full length album that will be targeted for release late 2024 /early 2025. Each song will be released as singles before eventually being pulled together into this upcoming album. The working title of the album is Bus Full of Clowns. The first two singles, Uromastyxand Clarity Drive were released in early 2024. The musical complexity has increased on these new songs. There are now multiple tracked guitars that play off one another…sometimes working together and sometimes purposely at odds. Future plans include more instrumentation such as acoustic guitar, piano, and who knows what else!
