They met in New York, though both come from Asia. They are called **BUBBLE TEA AND CIGARETTES** and compose and record their songs in a small room. It sounds like the beginning of a perfect love story—ours for them. Andi and Kat create vaporous, melancholic, and thrilling music, reminiscent of **MAZZY STAR**, **GALAXIE 500**, **BEACH HOUSE**, or **COCTEAU TWINS**. The kind of music that leaves you hypnotized, sedated, and utterly hooked. Their first songs were released as digital singles, gaining a considerable following worldwide. In 2020, they released *“5AM Empanada with You”* and *“Go Downstairs to the Blue Moon, Buy Some Fried Chicken”*. In 2021, *“Liz”* and *“Santa Monica”* came out. They kicked off 2022 with a mini-tour in Spain, marking their first performances outside North America. Following a new single titled *“Leap”*, their debut album, *“There’s Nothing But Pleasure”*, was released on **Elefant Records**. The album featured mixing by Anthony "Rocky" Gallo (who has worked with **Norah Jones**, **Cat Power**, **THE XX**, **CIGARETTES AFTER SEX**, **THE KILLERS**, **THE CLIENTELE**, among others) and mastering by Greg Calbi (whose credits include **Stevie Wonder**, **John Lennon**, **David Bowie**, **TAME IMPALA**, **ARCADE FIRE**, **St. Vincent**, **PERFUME GENIUS**, **BLONDIE**, **Aretha Franklin**, and many more). Its first pressing sold out quickly. They are one of those bands that music lovers treasure as gems. Their playground is intimacy, and everything we consider intimate is something we want to keep close to our hearts—and our ears.
