Details Press Release.

São Paulo’s most whimsical new act, YouDoMeToo, whose playful DIY toy-pop has captivated online audiences worldwide. Comprised of childhood friends turned musical collaborators Nat De Abreu and Luna May, the duo channels their shared passions for poetry, quirky handmade instruments and the surreal storytelling of filmmakers like Wim Wenders into a series of four enchanting tracks, now available on Elefant as the Eat Tacos EP (ER-091). The title track “Heart Skips a Beat” bursts forth with sprightly percussion created from repurposed household objects, layered guitars and dual vocal harmonies that leap from one heartfelt verse to the next. B-sides “Love Holds My Hands” and “Rainbow’s End” demonstrate the pair’s uncanny gift for melding nostalgic tubular bells, toy piano motifs and intimate lyricism into sing-along anthems. The closing song, “Leaving You,” uses Pac-Man imagery to poetically explore growing up, showcasing the group’s knack for marrying pop hooks with poignant storytelling. Accompanying the release, a self-produced video filmed in Nat’s grandmother’s attic reveals their theatrical flair and boundless creativity. YouDoMeToo celebrates their Elefant debut with in-store performances at Discos Cómeme (Madrid) on November 20 and at Lovemonk (Barcelona) on November 23. Experience the delightful oddness of YouDoMeToo—pop music reinvented with heart, humor and homemade flair.

Achievements and awards

YouDoMeToo formed in 2012 as a long-distance musical duo between Brazilian artists Nat De Abreu and Luna May, who connected via social media in late 2011. Undeterred by geography, they convened in São Paulo to lay down intimate home-studio recordings that blend whimsical toy-pop sensibilities with a touch of DIY eccentricity. Their debut single “Heart Skips a Beat” captures the duo’s signature blend of recycled instrumentation, childlike melodies and surreal lyricism reminiscent of a Todd Solondz film. The homemade music video, featuring handcrafted costumes and hand-painted backdrops, quickly became an underground hit, earning praise from indie-pop blogs for its boundless creativity and infectious charm. Following up with “Love Holds My Hands,” they channeled the plucky immediacy of Pascal Comelade, Regina Spektor’s quirk and the playful spirit of CocoRosie, cementing their reputation for crafting earworm choruses that linger long after the song ends. “Rainbow’s End” elevated their vocal interplay to sublime new heights, its triumphant sing-along refrain resonating with audiences at their early live and livestream performances. They closed their debut EP with “Leaving You,” a bittersweet paean to childhood’s end, drawing comparisons to a perfect soundtrack moment in Toy Story 3. In under a year, YouDoMeToo established themselves as a singular force in Brazil’s burgeoning indie-pop scene—one whose future recordings promise ever greater imaginative leaps.

Artist Bio.

YouDoMeToo is a Brazilian indie-pop duo formed in 2012 by vocalist-instrumentalists Nat De Abreu and Luna May, who first connected online in 2011 and defied distance to create music together in São Paulo. Their sound blends playful DIY toy-pop—built from recycled percussion, toy piano and self-made electronics—with surreal storytelling and dual vocal harmonies. Drawing inspiration from Todd Solondz’s off-beat cinematic worlds, the experimental charm of CocoRosie and the immediate hooks of Regina Spektor, they craft concise, earworm melodies that evoke childhood wonder. Their debut single “Heart Skips a Beat” and its accompanying low-budget video introduced audiences to their handmade aesthetic and imaginative costumes, rapidly earning them a devoted online following. Subsequent songs “Love Holds My Hands,” “Rainbow’s End” and “Leaving You” further demonstrate their gifts for marriage of whimsical instrumentation, introspective lyrics and anthemic refrains. In November 2012, Elefant Records released their four-track debut EP, showcasing both their sonic inventiveness and their theatrical flair. Beyond music, Nat and Luna collaborate on Typical Girls, a feminist cultural zine, bridging their artistic and social commitments. YouDoMeToo continues to perform intimate live shows and virtual concerts, marking them as one of Brazil’s most inventive new voices in the global indie-pop community.
