Details Press Release.

The release of Ultranol’s debut 12″ single, arrived on June 15 2011 on limited midnight-blue vinyl and digital platforms. Recorded throughout spring 2025 at Estudios Refugio Antiaéreo in Granada, the four-track release captures Alberto Iniesta’s boundless approach to modern pop. Sides A1 and A2 feature the tecno-pop anthem “Patitos de Goma,” driven by pulsing electronic drums, vocoder-processed lead vocals and a rallying chorus, and “El Invierno,” which layers reggae-inspired off-beats with warm synth pads and a breezy, homemade charm. Side B opens with “San Juan,” a lush electro-pop ballad graced by Casiotone flourishes and a love-struck storyline set under Midsummer’s Moon, and closes with “Corta y Pega,” a self-referential pop ode blending ’80s sequencers, dynamic call-and-response vocals and a broken-bridge surprise. Mastered by Guy Davie at Electric Mastering and pressed in a 300-copy run, the physical edition also includes an insert designed by Intro’s Julian House. To celebrate the single, Ultranol will perform an in-store showcase at Discos La Metralleta (Barcelona) on June 20 and at Discos Revolver (Madrid) on June 27. Early reviews from MondoSonoro and Jenesaispop praise the release for its “inventive genre-hopping” and “impeccable pop craftsmanship.”

Achievements and awards

Ultranol is the solo project of Madrid-based musician Alberto Iniesta, who adopted his moniker from a Blur B-side reference to a miraculous pill. After years of sharing tracks online, he makes his vinyl debut with a limited-edition midnight-blue 12″ single on Elefant Records, showcasing four of his finest songs. Free from stylistic constraints, Ultranol deftly navigates between tropical rhythms, Euro-disco grooves, electro-pop sheen and even reggae undertones, leaving behind his earlier guitar-driven work. The record opens with “Patitos de Goma,” a tecno-pop smash powered by vocoder-tinged vocals, an irresistible dance beat and a chantable chorus that demands to be shouted back. Next, “El Invierno” surprises with its “white reggae” foundation—syncopated skanks, warm bass and laid-back percussion—imbued with a homemade freshness and an infectiously upbeat mood despite its wintry title. On “San Juan,” Ultranol crafts delicate electronic pop with shimmering Casiotone leads and a nocturnal romance narrative tied to the shortest night of the year. Closing the single, “Corta y Pega” turns meta, celebrating music itself through addictive call-and-response vocals and an ’80s sequencer bridge. Critics at Jenesaispop and MondoSonoro have already hailed its homage to Band à Part and La Casa Azul. With this debut vinyl, Ultranol cements his reputation as one of Spain’s most inventive and effortlessly eclectic pop auteurs.

Artist Bio.

Ultranol is the solo alter ego of Spanish musician Alberto Iniesta, who took his name from a Blur B-side referencing a magical remedy pill. Known online for his chameleonic blend of styles, Iniesta’s debut 12″ single on Elefant Records features four standout tracks: the vocoder-driven tecno-pop smash “Patitos de Goma,” the “white reggae” groove of “El Invierno,” the Casiotone-adorned electro-pop romance “San Juan,” and the meta-pop celebration “Corta y Pega.” Recorded at Estudios Refugio Antiaéreo in Granada and mastered by Guy Davie, the midnight-blue vinyl edition showcases Ultranol’s fearless navigation of tropical beats, Euro-disco flair, synth-pop textures and reggae rhythms. Critics have likened his work to Band à Part, La Casa Azul and early Blur, while highlighting his unique voice in Spain’s indie-pop landscape. Celebrated by Jenesaispop and MondoSonoro, Ultranol will debut live in Barcelona (June 20) and Madrid (June 27), bringing his eclectic, danceable pop to the stage. With this release, Iniesta confirms himself as one of the most imaginative pop auteurs of his generation.
