Details Press Release.

By 2019, they had been seemingly reinforcing the idea that the group was destined to operate from a distance. However, this hasn’t been an obstacle for inspiration to strike. Their style is an irreverent, open-minded synth-pop: fresh and ultra-melodic. According to Stan himself, some of their main influences include Romain Guerret (DONDOLO, ALINE), LA MONJA ENANA, and FREEZEPOP (his home was filled with Elefant Records albums since he was very young), as well as THE PIROUETTES and DENIM. A testament to this is “Vice Et Werther,” their first Digital Single for our label, released at the end of 2020 as part of the New Adventures In Pop collection.

Achievements and awards

Among the albums released by the Madrid-based label Elefant (home to La Casa Azul and La Bien Querida) in the final months of 2021 is Cour de Récré’s debut. A fantastic pink vinyl with a yellow cover and insert, it marks an impressive debut for this French band, who count Freezepop among their key influences.

Artist Bio.

The story of COUR DE RÉCRÉ is one of distance. The band began as a duo, formed by Stan and Héloïse, who at the time were a couple separated by the thousands of kilometers between Avignon and Santiago de Chile. Stan composed the music, and both sang about their love across the distance, their longing to reunite, and the rare, intense moments they shared together. A friend of Stan’s, Quentin, began helping with some ideas and eventually became part of the group as a composer. To address the challenge of distance, Chloé stepped in for Héloïse as the vocalist during live performances and later took over on subsequent recordings as well.
