Flávia Muniz, one of Brazil’s most compelling young voices, today releases her debut solo album Descalços Sobre a Terra. Recorded in an all-acoustic session with her handpicked ensemble O Olho Mágico, the record channels the spirit of Rio’s golden era while embracing contemporary pop textures. From the anthemic opener “Brasil Onde a Gente Mora” (featuring QUARTETO EM CY–style choral harmonies) to the kaleidoscopic samba of “Cocorocô” and the playful multilingual nursery rhyme “Comment Tu T’appelles,” Flávia’s compositions showcase her exquisite musical training and boundless imagination. Producer Dani Cardona captured the warmth of her vocals alongside Bruno Reis’s lyrical guitar, Rodrigo Sebastián’s resonant double bass, Rômulo Frazão’s fluttering flute and Thiago Kobe’s organic drumming. A graduate in Música Popular Brasileira from UNIRIO, Flávia overcame a critical coma in 2007, transforming her recovery into creative fuel—writing bestselling children’s books and fronting the indie-pop band Luísa Mandou Um Beijo. Descalços Sobre a Terra marks her most personal statement yet, paying homage to Elis Regina’s power, Gal Costa’s elegance and Caetano Veloso’s adventurous spirit. Flávia will celebrate the album with a Brazilian tour beginning June 10th at Rio’s Circo Voador, followed by dates at São Paulo’s SESC Pompeia and Salvador’s Teatro Castro Alves. Descalços Sobre a Terra is available today on CD, vinyl and all major streaming services.
