Details Press Release.

May 18, 2015 – Barcelona, Spain. Elefant Records is delighted to announce the release of “Casi Cuela,” the spirited 7″ single from Neleonard, the pop collective led by Nele Navío. Emerging from the success of their New Adventures in Pop debut Agosto (2014), Navío joined forces with Laura Alonso, Elena Comas, Guille Rodríguez, Eloy Bernal and Pedro Señalada—veterans of Gúdar, Los Probeta, Die Katapult and Hibernales—to expand her vision of maximalist pop. Produced by Cristian Pallejà (Nisei, Fred i Son) and Ferran Resines (Blueberry Hill) at Caballo Grande Studios, “Casi Cuela” offers two fresh tracks brimming with Navío’s signature blend of razor-sharp detail, lyrical candor and melodic immediacy. The titular song juxtaposes buoyant rhythms and rich harmonies with incisive reflections on expectations and resilience, while its flip side delves into the bittersweet undercurrents of love’s complexities. Press advance praise heralds Neleonard’s ability to unite La Bien Querida’s sonic palette, Le Mans’ delicate atmospheres and The Divine Comedy’s orchestral flair under a cohesive pop sensibility. Available on vinyl and digital platforms from May 18, “Casi Cuela” will be celebrated with a release concert at Barcelona’s La Nau on June 5, featuring guest appearances by contributors from the Agosto sessions.

Achievements and awards

Neleonard began in 2012 when singer-songwriter Nele Navío embarked on a mission to craft unabashedly hook-driven pop. Rooted in the vibrant traditions of La Bien Querida’s sonic versatility and Belle & Sebastian’s tender lyricism, her debut 10″ mini-LP Agosto (2014) for Elefant’s New Adventures in Pop introduced six meticulously arranged songs that balance melodic exuberance with emotional depth. “Podemos,” an immediate anthem, fuses sweeping choruses, irony and sincerity to sing of love and its disillusionments, while “Por Pequeño Que Seas” channels La Buena Vida’s bittersweet charm and Nosoträsh’s lyrical candor. The title track “Agosto” weaves Mediterranean warmth and subtle flamenco flourishes, and “Capital” unfolds with cinematic strings to address distance and longing. On the B-side, “Sólo Por Un Momento” opens with Leonard Cohen–like introspection before blossoming into folk-pop grandeur, and the closing “Cómo Es” confronts love’s frustrations in acid-tinged tension. Supported by a live ensemble drawn from Gúdar, Die Katapult and Hibernales, Navío’s collective approach—“to songwrite by committee and pass the mic”—ensures every member’s voice resonates. Their follow-up single “Casi Cuela” (2015) confirmed their stature, and the digital preview “Coger Frío” (2016) showcased Pulp-inspired vitality and Divine Comedy–style elegance. Together, these releases cement Neleonard as one of Spain’s most celebrated new pop realities.

Artist Bio.

Neleonard is the Barcelona-based pop collective masterminded by Nele Navío, who since 2012 has pursued the creation of grand, irresistibly catchy songs exploring love and disenchantment. Navío’s songwriting marries La Bien Querida’s textural diversity, Ana Fernández-Villaverde’s introspective poetics, and Belle & Sebastian’s emotional warmth, anchored by Le Mans-style delicacy and Divine Comedy–inspired orchestration. Joining her are Laura Alonso, Elena Comas, Guille Rodríguez, Eloy Bernal and Pedro Señalada—talents from Gúdar, Los Probeta, Die Katapult, Gabriel y Vencerás and Hibernales. Their debut Agosto (October 2014) for Elefant Records’ New Adventures in Pop featured the anthemic “Podemos,” the melodramatic “Por Pequeño Que Seas,” sunlit title track “Agosto,” the poignant “Capital,” the Cohen-tinged “Sólo Por Un Momento” and the acid-folk finale “Cómo Es.” In May 2015, they released the double A-side 7″ “Casi Cuela,” and in June 2016 unveiled the lead single “Coger Frío,” a Pulp-inspired precursor to their first full-length album Las Causas Perdidas, which debuted in September 2016 to widespread acclaim for its elegant pop arrangements and confessional lyricism. Praised for a “songwrite by committee” ethos and captivating live performances, Neleonard continues to define Spain’s new pop vanguard.
